| Supreme Dictator for Life |
President and First Tiger |
| desperate t-shirts is the brain child of Stephen Tassie and Christina
Upton, of Toronto, Ontario (that’s in Canada). In 2004, Christina wore an inappropriate t-shirt
to the office on a ridiculously hot day and defended herself on the grounds that “desperate times
call for desperate t-shirts”. She immediately realized that they must start a t-shirt company so
that this line could be used as a motto. Stephen handles the production aspect, and silk screens
all the shirts by hand. The task of producing creative is handled jointly, and many of the
philosophies espoused by desperate t-shirts are also to be found in Stephen’s routines as a
part-time standup comic (for more information on this, go to
stevetassie.com). He is also the creator of the bestselling
B-movie card game series, including
Grave Robbers from Outer Space and his latest, Scurvy Musketeers of the Spanish Main.
Christina, on the other hand, works for a TV station, and really has no excuse to be
part of these shenanigans.
